serge's luck with the police

we're driving home from chez ursula when serge pulls over into the shoulder to pass a huge line of traffic. he figured it was fine, as he a) does it every day and b) is turning right anyway, so he bypasses the people going straight.

not today, my friends.

there was a lone cop, standing in the shoulder pulling us and about 3 other cars over to the side. damn.

the funny thing is, here, the cop doesn't come to your car, you have to get out and talk to him (he's gotta get more offenders!). he was very nice - chatting about switzerland. that's where he went on his honeymoon. did the pleasant memories cause him to forget about the ticket? of course not. that will be a fine of 600 dirhams and 6 points on serge's license. i think he got 4 points in december (and a fine of 750 dirhams) for parking in a handicapped spot. 

i'm not sure, but i think i read that you have 12 points maximum. i don't even know what happens when you surpass it. or when they go away. or if he's gotten speeding tickets (you don't find out until the end of the year when you renew your registration - surprise!). 

all i know is, i'm not ready to play chauffeur.
