raining...

it rained today. not a lot, but it was wet outside. apparently, when it rains a lot, it rains inside the houses too. serge told me this morning to move the drapes out and drag some of the furniture away from the windows. nothing leaked, lucky for me. should be interesting when we really get a downpour. 

what's weird is we had heard that it only rains 3 days a year here. i read in my trusty residents' guide that it's more like 25. judging by the greenery outside, i'd say it's closer to 25.

and too bad because i had just gotten my car washed yesterday. when you park at the mall, there are these dudes with little buckets on wheels (sort of on a cart-like thing) who ask you if you want your car washed. it costs 10 dirhams (about $2.75) and the car looks pretty good. you pay them before you go into the mall and when you come out, your car is clean.

we're going to dubai tomorrow, so there will be more interesting stories to report, i'm sure.
