we had to go to the police station today to get our license plates, as we got our new car today! hooray! once you get in, there appears to be a system of windows and numbers involving approvals before getting a number ticket...
you pretty much just walk up to a desk and they tell you where to go. and while you're with the person helping you, other people just walk up and talk or give their stuff too...but no one is in a rush or getting obnoxious.
so we are giving our paperwork to one cop (male) and a female cop is sitting next to him. she goes "gimme" to serge (re: julian). he wasn't going to go to her at first, but then she was trying to give him a pen or something and he ended up walking over the desk to her. she picks him up and takes him in the back or something. a few minutes later, he comes out holding a twix bar. hilarious!
then, the cop who's helping us with our paperwork slides 10 dirhams over the table and points to julian "for him". how nice are these people?
so once you get the paperwork approved by person #1, you move on to a different window, where you are printed a credit card-like thing which is your vehicle registration, then you go outside and to the back where they print the plates. so as soon as they process your paperwork, your numbers get sent to the computers in the back building and your plates come hot off the presses!
we are ready to rumble. and julian is slowly filling his piggy bank as he nibbles on the ginormous stash of twix he has been given...
