yesterday, i return to carrefour for the 10 millionth time and ask for the manager, who was, of course, not due to return for another 2 hours. as i perused the baby products aisle, who passes me, but the manager i was looking for. he says, "go to the customer service and ask for an exchange voucher." this was going to be interesting.
when i told the clerk my story, there was confusion (shocker), then conversing in arabic with 2 other clerks or assistant manager types. phone calls left and right. requests for people to get their supervisor. to be honest, i wasn't sure it was all for my stupid fridge. why did security need to be called? was i in trouble.
some time later (i stopped looking at the clock b/c it was pointless), out comes the head of security, someone from home appliances, the general manager of the store and about 2 other people whose jobs i can't recall (but they seemed irrelevant). everyone had to be informed, then each of them told me the same thing, told each other the same thing, "yes, yes, the old fridge is in the back" and "yes, it was broken" and "broken compressor". never mind the fact that i'd since turned blue from explaining the same story either in person or on the phone for 4 days straight.
so the appliance guy goes, "you come back and pick out fridge." i just wanted the same one. long pause. "we don't have that one." of course you don't.
more conversing and confirming and FINALLY, everyone, all 100 people standing around, including myself, got to sign this "exchange voucher" (it was littered with signatures) and voila, i could get a new fridge.
picked out a different brand, just to be on the safe side. and it was delivered 1st thing (9:15) this morning. the delivery guy goes, "i came here first because i know you are waiting." aha! score.
so it's all good. and cold. :)
