the "new" safeer mall

last night we decided to try out the "new" safeer mall which is down the street from us. why the quotes? because the mall has been built for about 4 years or more, only there was no electricity, so it couldn't open.

i'm still wondering why solar power isn't utilized as much as it could be here. it's sunny pretty much all the time. think of the power that could generate! or maybe i don't know the nitty gritty about power supply.

anyway, it's very middle eastern in appearance. not all the stores are open (but starbucks is, go figure).  there's a humungous grocery store (safeer) that is open and blindingly bright compared to the dim lighting in the mall. we'll go back when there's more to see.

and more to eat - stupidly, we figured there would be food available to eat (like at a restaurant or food court). nope, nothing but coffee. so we settled on some takeout pasta from pizza hut because julian had fallen asleep in the mall (and the car) and we didn't want to disturb him again.

don't worry, i cooked tonight. i do have a working fridge after all...
