so we went over and hung out. turns out my new friend is moving back to pakistan in june to finish her medical training and officially become a doctor. i'll have to learn some good recipes from her before she leaves. on the plus side, ursula is moving here on the 12th of march. that's good because she is a bit more adventurous. zobia told me before, "i don't think you should go to dubai by yourself." ursula, on the other hand, is like, "we're going at least once a week together and then we're giving the kids to the husbands and going to the movies." rock on, sister.
back to the "outing"...
zobia drew me a map of the area to point out where the affordable kids' clothing / toy stores are, and just in general some main landmarks of the city. while serge and i were discussing stuff yesterday (he apparently ate a hot dog for lunch yesterday because it looked like something from home, and we both thought it strange that we would want stuff like that - hot dogs, donuts - when we NEVER (or hardly ever) eat it in the US. he said it was good, way better than at home) and i happened to mention something about dunkin donuts. and he was like, "well, too bad there isn't one here." to which i replied, "oh, but there is, and zobia put it on the map." isn't that funny?
i also learned that her kids go to bed at 10:30 (i guess we ARE the weirdos) and they eat dinner at 9pm.
at around 11:15am, her daughter was hungry, so she went in the kitchen and cooked up some chicken nuggets for the kids. julian stuffed his little face with almost 3 of them. so it was a lovely morning (followed by a napless afternoon, sadly). too bad they are leaving in a few months!
in india you are lucky to get dinner by 9 p.m., whether you are a kid or an adult! westerners eat dinner way early.
