our neighbors rule

we were getting ready to go out to dinner tonight when the doorbell rang. it was mimaha (upstairs neighbor), who brought us egyptian food that she had cooked, plus whole wheat pita bread. she had made a dish with eggplant, beef, peppers and tomato that was baked together. it was delicious! and freaking awesome that i didn't have to cook or take the trouble to go out! (nice laziness, eh?)

what's funnier is, she dropped off the food and then was going for a walk around the complex with her husband, mahmoud. she goes, "come with us julian". and he climbs down off the porch and takes their hands and walks off, not even a turn in our direction or wave goodbye. is our child that sick of us already?

he then played out on the porch with serge until they came back from doing a few laps, then followed them upstairs to play with mustafa and safinez (the kids). julian just makes himself right at home!
