the dubai mall

yesterday (saturday), we decided to head to dubai. i was craving asian noodles, so we hit up wagamama on sheik zayed road. julian was positively confused as to why mommy and daddy were given bibs by the waiters, but found it amusing nonetheless. it certainly hit the spot.

from there, we decided to check out the new dubai mall, as it was just down the street. that place is HUGE. just when you think you won't find a bigger, more impressive mall, they build another one. they have so many stores there, it's insane. of course, lots of pricey labels, but that's to be expected here. so, if you're looking to outfit your child in designer labels (shoes and all), that's the place to go.

the dubai mall also is home to an aquarium, although seemingly not as impressive as the one in the atlantis. there is also an ice rink, although it was so far from where we were that we didn't go check it out.

they do have an awesome bookstore from singapore that had about 15 books i wanted to buy and i only visited the front section. the store was too massive to even consider checking out seriously. i would have gone broke and/or gotten lost inside.

we stopped at caribou coffee for refreshment, and julian entertained us by dancing around and chanting "cookie cookie" when we presented him with a chocolate chip cookie in the play area.

we were supposed to meet a friend from high school (who lives in dubai, small world) for her son's birthday party, only we were off on the timing. but julian got to play in the park, so it was a good day for him (and us) in the end.
