it's okay, everything's going to be oh-kay

if you're reading this out of order, read the previous post first. and if you didn't know what a freak i am, this post title comes from 'wayne's world' - a garth line from the end of the movie when they bring russell over to their side at the cable station.

anyway, we successfully avoided nightmares (at least i think we did) by taking julian to the corniche after his nap yesterday to play in the grass. this morning (saturday), we whipped out the sunblock and headed back over to the beach club to give the pool another go.

there was no sign of fear as julian made his way over to sit at the edge of the kiddie pool. and as we blinked, all of a sudden, he had fallen in, feet first and turned himself around to hold onto the side. i don't think he would have freaked out as much (because he freaked out) if he had been in the shallower part of the pool - he happened to be in the part where the slide lets out, so it's a bit deeper (up to his neck). he didn't go under, but wasn't too happy.

when daddy picked him up, it was a fierce point to get out of the kiddie pool area. we hung out at the fountain pool for a while and then decided to give it a go again. serge took him up to the slide and had him come down painstakingly slowly (like the difference between owning a gun and having to insert bullets into your victim manually, to paraphrase sophia on 'the golden girls'). we decided the best way for him to get over it (possibly trust me?) was for me to take him on the speed ride down again.

only this time, serge was waiting at the bottom to grab him before i got sucked underwater. and once we did that, he was okay. when we asked him if he wanted to go again, he said no. but serge took him and i took him, and by the second time, he was giggling and laughing and asking to go again.

thank God.
